I've researched about disability in the past. You should apply for SSDI as soon as possible. It couldn't hurt to see if you qualify for SSI and Medicaid. Have you applied for unemployment benefits?

I'm good at researching stuff and am willing to help you find info you need.

Social Security pays only for total disability [you cannot work at all for at least a year.]

SSI eligibility http://www.ssa.gov/notices/supplemen...ility-ussi.htm

for the Medically Needy:
- Pregnant women, children, aged, blind, and disabled individuals whose family income exceeds the established income limit may be eligible under the Medically Needy program. The Medically Needy program allows a person to use incurred/unpaid medical bills to "spend down" the difference between their income and the income limit to become eligible.
Applying for Medicaid
To apply for Medicaid, go to your county Department of Family and Children Services Office and they will assist you. Georgia's county Department of Family and Children Services Office locations
