When you are relaxing with headphones on and eyes closed, they just help get your "head" out of the way so you can focus on suggestions, which then are more easily remembered and top of mind, etc. so you don't have to "work" at remembering them, they become more automatic, influencing your day-to-day behaviors and when listened to over and over, you change your habits.
