leaving hospital and my mobile phone rang:

me: yes?

them: how are you?

me: oh not bad, I'm coming home

them: it's probably not a good time to tell you this, but your cat died

(long pause)
me: um, I see

then I hung up

realising I didn't have a cat, I rushed back to the hospital to swap phones (I had the wrong patients phone with me!)

now their mother thought they were coming home but actually they weren't.
