I get chronic neck and headaches due to muscle tension from anxiety. I get chair massages sometimes for my neck when it's bad. Its not magical but it is another tool in the box. It depends a lot on the person doing the massage though. If the right person (who actually knows neck anatomy and is able to work on my neck without it causing too much pain) does it, I think its at least somewhat helpful. I don't like massages where I have to lay down nearly as much.
