I weened off of amitriptyline once. I was taking 50 mg. each evening. I followed the advice of a psychiatrist who said to drop the dose every month by 5 mg. He was wise. That was the right way to do it - gradually.

If you're having a tough time, I would urge you to ween off more gradually than you're doing.

Previously pdocs had told me I could ween off in 8 days. That was bad advice.
