I've never experienced this, darkside8. However I believe it's absolutely normal to explore the possible causes of your anxiety before working on it. And yes, sometimes it can bring you to some uncomfortable places and not be pleasent at all. However I also believe it's important to give some coping skills to help you deal with anxiety. If you feel like your therapy isn't being helpful or that there aren't a lot of hidden reasons for your anxiety, I'd suggest to talk to your therapist about this and see how it goes from there.
