We do in several senses.

Most larger employers have benefits packages that include LTD (long term disability). There are restrictions though on that usually, most often regarding minimum time employed by the employer. I do not qualify for this. I have not been with the company for the minimum 6 mos and neighther have accrued the necessary hours.

There is a national Employee Insurance program too. I will have to look into this as the rules might have changed. It basically has a minimum time/hours employed too. It was a full 52 weeks full-time last I checked but that was 5yrs ago.

Provincially there are disability programs too. I used to be on this but the moment I moved in with my boyfriend a year ago I was in default and no longer qualified as I am now considered a dependent.

But, yeah, you are right. You have a point. I should look into the EI program. THANKS.
