Freudian psychoanalysis isn't a treatment for DID. Trauma therapy is, where the client learns to regulate the nervous system so that the trauma symptoms no longer overwhelm everyday functioning. Catastrophic childhood trauma changes the course of normal human development. There is no quick fix for this stuff. There is no "normal" to return to. What you can do is learn to live the best life you can with the cards you've been dealt. "Living the best life you can" with a nervous system that adapted specifically to survive chronic and unrelenting trauma is a goal that takes... as long as it needs to take.
But for me... others documenting my memory loss would do diddly squat to change how my physical being overreacts to the multiple triggers of trauma that pervade my every day life.
