Hi All,

Just wondering what your experiences were of being at the ER for SH? I had to go there on Sunday to get stitched up. I go to the front desk and they are like, "What brought you in today?" And I said, "Cut on arm." And the lady was like, "I don't understand. Can I see?" So I showed her but it was embarrassing because it was out there in front of everyone.

Then I get called back like an hour later. And the nurse asked me what brought me in today so I told her. She was like, "How did it happen?" So I told her I did it. She was like, "On purpose?!" I was like, "Yeah, but I'm not suicidal." She stepped away to go consult. And I was like crap. I'm going to have to do a psych consult. Luckily, I didn't.

Then another nurse stitched me up. This nurse I liked. She was nice but distant. She didn't really say anything but she answered my questions. She just acted like it was "normal". Then the other nurse came back to give me a tetanus shot because it had been a while since I had one. And she was like, "You're at risk because you cut." No duh. Oh and they asked me, "Are you having thoughts of hurting yourself?" I said, "That's a stupid question." But I just kept repeating that I wasn't suicidal so I could just get stitched up and come home. The whole thing just took me about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Maybe 2 and a half hours. Kit
