What you can do is based on your situation and how you are doing. You can't really control the situations you will be in, but you can take care of yourself.

Anyone can 'do better' if they're doing well and in a good situation. Maybe there will be times when taking care of yourself is all you can do, and that will be the best you can do at the time. Most people end up in a spot like that and it's very important to have people who can support you at times like that.

So, you seem to be pretty stressed out. That's okay. Recognize that you are doing the best you can at this moment - and that that's okay. Learn to let go and relax - that's okay too. Dealing with the stress will have you be doing better and so be able to do better. It's difficult and might seem paradoxical, but once you've done that then you can honestly evaluate where you can reasonable longterm improvements.
