This is a great question RV. I don't understand The Well's comment:
"There is no rule about closing threads. I closed the thread because the original poster was now Anonymous and people were still posting to the thread responding to that person. That didn't make a lot of sense to me so it's closed."
I don't see anything senseless about it. If current members like the thread and keep it active, why end that? Aside from the enjoyment it could be bringing to current members, the former member could still be reading the posts and feeling comforted by them.
