I always get annoyed when I hear of former addicts being denied adhd treatment with meds due to past addictions. It has been proven over and over that treating someone with adhd lessons the possibility of them using substances and having addictions to other things because they are being treated properly. Untreated adhd is can cause some people to self medicate by using drugs or alcohol to mitigate the symptoms of adhd. Many times if you find a good doctor you can get treatment assuming the doctor knows his or her stuff about adhd.
