I have a very strict bedtime routine that I implemented due to terrible insomnia. I used to take all sorts of sleeping meds but as an alcoholic in recovery they no longer were an option. I wont bore you or hijack your thread about my sleep training but specific to your question I go upstairs where my bedroom is at the same time every night. I take my night time meds about 15 min before that. I take Geodon and my doc had told me years ago that it needs a little bit of digestion to get going so I will take them with a small snack like some crackers or a clementine. Once in bed I read for about 15 minutes (yes its my phone but it doesnt bother me) then I turn my phone on silent and upside down and lay there and close my eyes. 8/10 times this works and I am asleep in a total of 20 minutes.
