I would stop at rest areas and do jumping jacks with two cop flashlights. I had a cooler with water and proteins snacks and didn't stop of restaurants. But the traffic and road construction in Texas was awful so driving at night with less traffic was best. My last trip tho, with a full car I took two hotel stops and took my time, I arrived with more energy than usual. fortunately Sir was a great traveler too.

In the past we were about to board the dog for a decent price for 10 days , now it’s 15.00 a day per dog per day , nope nope nope much cheaper to bring along.
So they began coming alone. I enjoy the company when I have to say no to whatever and just stay In the hotel room.
I pack people and doggy snacks and energy shots.
We usually can make good time and it be 12-13 hours if we only stop for gas. But rest stop areas wandering around does take some time.
It’s just a boring boring ride !
