There is a branch of therapy you are not likely to hear of here. If I'm wrong plz correct me. That is spirit releasement. My point is that for psychotherapy to advance it's necessary for many more therapists to look into it. There is a lot written and with videos on the subject, a lot of it not worth much but there are a few highly educated persons/authors in high positions that do this kind of work with clients who have all kinds of mental afflictions. Brian Weiss, Edith Fiore just to mention two. Stafford Betty is another. Many professionals don't accept spirit possession or attachment but that's because they are just not informed. At least that's the impression I get. Spirit attachment theory goes way back to before the time of Jesus. The Bible states in many places how He cast out devils. It works like this-Some people when they die don't want to give up their earthly lives-for any of several reasons. In one case the brother of a lady friend of mine took his own life. For some time afterwards she was being 'haunted' by him in night visions, even during the day. I don't want to intrude and ask about it. It's just too sensitive but I wish I could. I suppose the brother was regretting his act and wanted to atone for it but now it was too late. Or he was just afraid in his spirit mind which by the way is in his case the same mind as when in his flesh body. Afraid he'd go to hell so he clung to earthlife and his sister. Hopefully he was rescued. Odd as it seems some don't realize they've died so they try to go through their old motions while on earth. Some deal with addictions, some with vengeance- and when they give up the body they still won't let go of their cravings for drugs, drink, food, sex whatever or the desire to torment someone. They hang around earth people who have the same addictions, draining energy, causing depression etc. In essence spirit release therapists will talk in the presence of their client to the attaching entity and explain things to them, how a much better life awaits them if they just give up their attachment to the person. Not to say All cases involve spirit attachment. But apparently many do. And it's not hard to see the logic in this-that when the personality survives bodily death, after a troubled life, they may not want to let go of what they had on earth. Maybe they think the earthly life is all there is. So if the therapist can convince the earth bound spirit to turn away from the earthlife and go into the light (as corny as that may sound) and or be receptive to loved ones who have come to help him or her then the suffering person on earth life is quickly cured of the problem.
I recommend reading Edith Fiore's books as she explains it well along with how to deal with it in your own life. I hope I don't alarm anyone. As Fiore says she feels most all of us at some time in our lives have spirits hanging on to us, causing distress. So if you get drunk a lot you are going to attract these kind of earthbound spirits. If you get into screaming arguments. . . We just don't understand it or realize it. And as she says, she herself is not totally convinced but as a working hypothesis spirit release therapy works.
