Sorry that sounds so familiar with the stories of avoidance I hear. I think it may be part of the mental illness, maybe even feeling they are all right when their life was a mess.

NAMI told me that I could writer to their therapist and give them voice messages that tell them what is really going on, but that may not work for you. You would not get a reply from the therapist but you could share information especially if they are a harm to themselves or someone else.
