Hope you manage to keep the friendship, but I can understand and maybe even identify... There's a lot of division in the US, causing people to feel incompatible and unable to "agree to disagree" anymore. Some of this is creeping even into personal matters, no matter how long I've been friends with someone or how good the friendship is. I wish we had ways to find our common human ground again...
