I'm coming up on a month. It'll be a month in 3 days. Mostly feeling good. Glad I made the decision to go back on Antabuse.

It’s been 3 months and two days, but I am struggling right now. The urges to get blind drunk are overwhelming. I don’t know how long I can push it down.

(((((whisperingskye)))))

What helps you when strongly urged to drink?

Would it help to speak here about, or to journal about, whatever might be going on such that the urges are so high?

I don’t know what helps, normally my partner. She helps keep me on the straight and narrow. Stress levels are high right now. My partner is in crisis. Waiting for a bed to become available so she can be admitted. I’m just drained. And I really really just want to drink. It’s just hard right now. I don’t know if I’ll have the willpower to stay sober when she isn’t here, because right now it’s very much on my mind.

whisperingskye, I totally get how overwhelming it is when the urges to drink are really strong. Would it help you to focus on being there to support your friend, who is in crisis. I find that when I have to be there for someone else who really needs my support, that I can sometimes push through the urge to drink.

Hang in there.

Yay - today is officially a month. That's the longest I've made it in ages. And the best part is I have no real desire to drink. Part of that's the Antabuse, and part of that is how badly my last relapse scared me, both in terms of how sick I got and how long it took me to recover.

Keeping going, one day at a time.

I'm trying to learn meditation but I have a bottle of wine. I looked up how alcohol effects meditation and it's like the opposite of meditation.

I don't know what to dooo

I know.. I'll meditate

I used to meditate and should take it back up. I did it a few times when drunk. I wouldn't say it was the opposite, but it was not as beneficial. Sober meditation often left me in state I could not achieve drunk.

I like meditating, and it's something I do frequently. But I definitely have to be sober to do it effectively.
