Anyone have any experience? I'm at 2mg a day. I can handle 1.5mg a day but but I haven't consistently done it yet. I'm not pregnant, but I want to in the near future and be off of xanax obviously while I do.

If you want off it I would switch to diazepam and then decrease by about 10% a week. A psychiatrist should know the equivalents. It's a pretty painless process.

That is Valium, right? Would Klonopin work just as well?

no vallium is the best way to go as it has the longest half life and you can taper more easily. they even have liquid so you can use dropperful with the tiniest of doses.

You really need the valium because it is looooonnng acting and it comes in 5 and 2mg making it easier to decrease dose at a more steady rate of 10%

That is reassuring to hear. The literature makes it sound so scary. I take 12.5mg Ambien nightly- this is year 12 of that. I would also like to quit, but it seems intimidating.

I understand your concerns, LittleEarthquakes. I'd suggest to talk to your Pdoc about this if you haven't already. Hopefully he/she will know what to do. I'm so sorry, I wish I've had more advice to give to you. Stay safe and take care of yourself. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

I detoxed off of 8mg a day (acquired illegally) to nothing in about 2 weeks in a controlled rehab setting using large amounts of phenobarbital. I still had major withdrawal symptoms including seizure. Under no circumstance would I recommend a cold turkey detox. It is life threatening and can cause seizure and other life threatening side effects.

That being said, you are absolutely doing the right thing by tapering off the drug. The best advice is to go very very slow. It will be the best option for you by far. If .5 milligram drops become too much to handle, continue with .25mg drops. This should minimize your withdrawal symptoms.

Keep your eye on the prize and remember why you're doing this. Think about your healthy baby and the benefits to your own health. You can do it! Just remember that feelings are temporary.

Good luck!

Hi.

First off you're lucky as Xanax has short half life but it can take a long time for some. But I took camxa when needed for years and could start stop etc. But klonopin Clomazpam 48hr life in system after 2 years can't get off. But I do know a website that's extremely informative on benzopines. The domain name benzo.org is for sale | Undeveloped I found it extremely informative when realised I couldn't just stop(Dam Drs another story) it's also has a forum attached for every type of benzopines. people who are going through it, been through it etc etc it's worth a look and you will be fine. And I've always found over 20+ years people tell the you the truth Drs don't.
