This thread is quiet...probably because binging is more about disordered eating and not really dieting. Right now I am calorie counting and keeping a food log. We will see how it goes. I sometimes just go out and go off my diet by over-eating. I guess it is just a matter of discipline - to not do that. Binging is serious and maybe people don't want to talk about it. __________________ Last edited by DechanDawa; Dec 06, 2018 at 07:58 PM.. |

After 5 weeks of dieting...I ate a big dinner tonight and ate a chocolate bar for dessert. I call it my cheat day.
WE have to have this every now and then. food journaling helps to see where your calories are eaten for sure! good for you! I have used the nutrition site Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople You can track your food items have goals etc. I used that for a long time and It helped. good luck! bizi __________________ 150mg of lamictal 2x a day haldol 5mg 2x a day 1mg of cogentin 2x a day klonipin , 1mg at night, 4-5 peri-colace for chronic constipation multi vit,, vit c, at noon, tumeric, caffeine at noon PRN Remeron 15mg at night, zyprexa10mg under tongue, requip2mg. |

I am interested in people who had a habit of mini-binges and how they overcome them.
I am interested in how people deal with hunger. Am not interested in diet and/or motivational tips as I have that covered. __________________ |

I didn't start this as a diet thread and I am not interested in recording every aspect of my weight loss journal. I am more interested in mini binges and how people got over this habit.

Having a big dinner isn't a binge. Or even a mini-binge. Please stop trying to turn this into a diet thread because that's not what this thread is about. I think you have your own diet thread where you talk about your weight loss journey. I just had a few specific questions and would like to bring this thread back on topic. Thanks. __________________ |

sorry for high jacking your thread. I noticed that you did not have any responders so thought you might like to have some dialog.

Maybe binging is a non-topic. Anyway, I think I have established myself on this diet and have the food log, and have solidified my goals...so maybe binging or emotional over-eating is not going to be a problem. Another reason this thread is not getting much response -- maybe because this is the time of year when people don't want to think about dieting. Binging a little is part of the season. I can understand this but I didn't want to do that this year. I don't drink alcohol but I do like to eat. Also sorry but I am not in a good mood. I am severely depressed and it is hard to find discipline in this state. I am going to take a break from Psych Central before I really offend someone! Good luck with your continued success, especially with staying sober. __________________ |

I went for a week without over-eating. The secret was keeping a very honest food log. I lost a couple pounds.
The first few days I was REALLY HUNGRY but that has kind of gone away. __________________ |

Sorry I was such a cry baby on this thread. IDK...I think I wasn't binge eating as much as emotional eating...and once I really confronted that as spoiling my diet...I knew it had to go. I am content with losing 2 pounds a week which will happen with life style change. I now see I was eating emotionally...when anxious...or stressed...or bored...or from habit. I was extremely hungry...like starving...but now I'm not. I don't know why but it is good. Well...I am still a bit hungry...but it is manageable. __________________ |

I think when we use portion control, it helps to keep us satisfied.
When I go to lunch at a health food store and they like me so give me a lot of food. Lately I have cut the portions in half and have taken that home. I eat at this health food store/cafe almost every day. So it is healthy! bizi __________________ 150mg of lamictal 2x a day haldol 5mg 2x a day 1mg of cogentin 2x a day klonipin , 1mg at night, 4-5 peri-colace for chronic constipation multi vit,, vit c, at noon, tumeric, caffeine at noon PRN Remeron 15mg at night, zyprexa10mg under tongue, requip2mg. |

Have to avoid all the cues in the environment to overeat. And the freebies...cookies and free cheese samples at the grocery store add up.
Portions as served to us make us think huge portions are okay. But when you start to calorie count you can see how many calories are in things. A serving is usually l/2 cup of something. Dieting is all about reading labels, too. One has to "earn" a weight loss of two pounds a week. It won't happen from wishful thinking. I have had a week of binge-free eating. Just eating low calories. No snacks but I do have some zero calorie small hard candies on hand. Don't want to chew gum. Gone are bags of popcorn and/or chips with hummus! Have a "tea tray" set up to make matcha tea or green tea at any time. Happy with the weight loss this week. Think I have made big strides in behavioral changes. I am still eating Christmas cookies but limiting to one a day with decaf coffee after dinner...which is fine. __________________ |

I was starving and now I am not. What happened? I took away refined carbohydrates and added more protein in the form of nonfat yogurt and nonfat cottage cheese. This was on the advice of a dietician who recommended this because I complained of hunger and am on a vegetarian diet. I don't eat nuts but I do eat pumpkin seeds. Anyway...I think I resolved the hunger issues.
Now the challenge is just to avoid temptation which I have done okay with this week. For now eliminated rice and beans and substituted home made zucchini noodles with fresh tomato and parmesan cheese...my favorite dinner. Anyway....if seems I have reduced hunger pangs. The key seems to be to cut out all junk food and junk snacks ENTIRELY. One cookie a day isn't going to break the diet. I don't drink eggnog or alcohol. Those can really mess up a diet. I cut out the vegetarian half subs at Subway because of the bread. __________________ |

Am going to eliminate the cookies. I don't like the idea of "reward" food and would rather come up with non-food rewards.

A close relative sent me food as a Christmas gift. This was the fourth time in a row they sent me gourmet food items as a gift. I complained to them and of course we ended up having a big fight. I was really displeased because I am vegetarian and they sent me bacon salad dressing. This is a close family member. I was really disappointed.
I was going to send the stuff back to them and even boxed it up then I realized it would be rude. I ate some of the chocolates and some of the horrible gourmet popcorn. After eating healthy for days with salads and fresh fruit. I hate, hate, hate processed "gourmet" food items. This whole thing ruined my holiday. Now I have all this chocolate candy around. I guess I will stash it in the back of the freezer. As for the bacon dressing...it looks so gross. I should throw it away. It's not something I would give to anyone. There's also some kind of pumpkin butter spread which I will never use. I don't even eat toast. Who knew it would be so hard to steer clear of crap food at the holiday? Trying to get back on track. __________________ Last edited by DechanDawa; Dec 27, 2018 at 05:00 AM.. |

I ate more of the chocolates someone sent me. This isn't even the way I want to eat. I don't have a thing about chocolates. It is just that someone sent me TONS of bad food.
Tonight I am gathering up what remains and throwing it away. I loved having a simple diet of salads, low fat dairy, fruits, and vegetables. I feel good eating that way. I feel like processed food poisons me. I may be a bit orthorexic, but I don't care. I was losing weight and feeling good, and now the holidays ruined everything. There is so much crappy food around during the holidays. Tomorrow I am starting afresh and happily going back to my plain vegetarian fare. __________________ |
