How do you focus on motivating yourself to stick to a diet especially when you're going through stress. I'm struggling to fight the urges of wanting to turn to junk food as a coping mechanism. So difficult!!

I'm struggling with the exact same thing! Food is my one vice I turn to for enjoyment & comfort. Sad, I know. I'm in day three of being back on eating a cleaner diet minus certain things to see if it helps with my pain. I need to lose a lot of weight too & that's always the first thing I'm told is the cause of every issue I have. The cravings have been really bad & yesterday afternoon I kept thinking what a relief it would be to run get something yummy. I didn't do it but I did cry a little & feel very hopeless. I just keep telling myself that if I can do this for just ONE week, some docs say I should see an improvement. (Some say 4 to 8 weeks but I can't think about that.) Right now I'm telling myself to just get through today. I wish I could tell you I've found something to replace my comfort food.
What kind of diet are you on? __________________ dj "Everything sad is coming untrue." : ) |

Hi ya
Thanks for your reply. It's nice to hear others are experiencing the same issues. I am currently on the diet chef. Some are great foods. But I have strong cravings to return to drinking fizzy drinks and junk food. Especially when I am having a bad day, I think screw it. To cheer myself up and go home and eat junk. It's one addiction that is extremely difficult to beat. |

I had never heard of Diet Chef so I looked it up. I tried Nutrisystem several years ago because I'm not a cook & I'm all about convenience. Now I'm doing way too much prepping & cooking & clean up with all the standing that goes with it & it's really hard on this painful body of mine. I'm hoping eating better will help my pain & it's killing me! I hope this works for you. Could you possibly stay on your meal program & plan a treat for maybe one night a week? You would have that to look forward to & maybe you wouldn't feel the need to totally give up. It's not what we really want, I know. Certain foods calm me & make me happy but the pain is becoming so debilitating & the extra weight keeps me from getting out like I should for my mental health (which is not good at all these days). I'm trying really hard to stay in the zone, try new seasonings & choose a variety of foods in different colors. If this does help my issues, I may add back a little of some of the things I cut out but one at a time to see what my body does. For now, I'll just get through today. You can do that too. Just today. 💪👍👏
