The dr. thought I was a binge drinker. I'll take it, it sounds better than alcoholic. A month ago I was sitting outside in my garden enjoying the evening and my 3rd triple vodka and a few hits of erb. I became aware that I was falling asleep. I thought 'I better get up and go to bed' at which point I stood up and fell flat on the ground. Not at all the first time. It scared me and I intensely thought 'I gotta quit this. If it doesn't kill me it will by the time I die turn my personality into total garbage". I managed to get up and get to bed but in the morning I was still very dizzy. That's never happened before. Took about a week to get over the dizziness. It's been a month and I've only had a couple drinks which I couldn't finish because it tastes so bad. I don't even miss it and rarely even think about it at the cocktail hour. The benefits: I've lost at least 3 inches on my waist due to no calories from the booze and no more binge eating before bed. Things are actually getting done around the house, got the energy. Saving money too. But most days I still feel like I'd been drinking the night before, a little dizzy, which I always attributed to alcohol but maybe it's just age . I'm past 70. Or maybe it's lasting brain damage. Oh well what's done is done so I don't let it bother me.
