Ive been going to suboxone treatment for sometime, about a month. They offer a counsler which I speak with weekly. Counsling seems to be going well. We take the session one at a time. Ive noticed all my emotions which lead me to use or want to use stem from my ex girlfriend, getting over her has been the hardest. I feel it shouldnt be that hard. If only i could make mends with her i wouldnt want to use, i have no choice but to recognize this isnt in my controll but hers. All I can do is hope for a hopeful future. Any comments feel free.

I think its great that you are using medication to help you stay clean. Many times people will judge you like you should be strong enough to go cold turkey but I dont know how effective cold turkey is or how successful you would be without the suboxone. Good for you!

Good for you for starting suboxone and getting off opiates - that's tough.

As for the grilfriend, I suspect she's a symptom of bigger /deeper issues. I'm not saying she's not a trigger - everyone's triggers are different, but if you were totally over her, if you are at all like me, you'd find some other emotion to want to numb. Give it time. Therapy takes time. And a month clean, while great, isn't that long - your brain's still adjusting to its new normal.

I’m very glad that suboxone is working for you and getting you clean. I think suboxone is a wonder drug and highlighting underused. A lot of the medical professionals still don’t even know what it is . Not every doctor can prescribe it..
It’s great for detox but some docs use it also for chronic pain. Or a certain period of time or for however long it helps. Addiction sucks. No matter what the substance. It’s physical AND emotional. Watch for triggers. Learn what they are and try to avoid at all costs.
Best of luck to you.....

I hope it helps you. I was on it for a year and it did not help me, but I know it does assist many.

So how is your Suboxone treatment going ? Isn't that supposed to be the
focus here ? Doesn't matter what the issues that your dealing with are.
The main thing is that you are detoxing off of the hard stuff right ?
Is the Suboxone still helping you ?

They help. They keep me from wanting to use and reduce my urges for drugs. Im pretty sure they medicate my depression more than anything but thats alright as long as im sober and not depressed. Im sure the depression will go away after time. Ive been told life works its little kinks out after a while so life should be getting better.

That's great. Well done on sticking with the program and staying clean. You're right, life does kind of sort itself out with help, once we stop using. But if you find the depression hanging around, you might want to talk to your Dr. about it, since it could be a separate issue in its own right.

Are you still seeing the counselor?
