I think I'm doing an ACOA thing.
My wife and I argue, but in my memory it is much bigger than it perhaps was. When things are good, I don't necessarily remember an argument from a couple of days ago. It's like it's erased. Can someone relate to that? RDM |

I can relate to the erased part, maybe less so the catastrophizing in memory. You have me wondering now, though!

I can also relate to the forgetting part. I do find remembering challenging as I always question if it was (as bad) as I think it was. I find it hard to rely on my memory and judgement. It is tricky because it is important to take your feelings seriously but also not to blow things out of proportion. Would be intersting to hear from others

This is a pattern I have also noticed in myself, where everything else but the situation at hand to exist when something bad happens. The problem is that it is not rational at all, as I've grown with these issues I can tell the thinking is wrong. The rationale behind the feelings IS wrong. It still feels as if it was true though, and this is something I have been butting my head against for years now. Anyone else in a similar situation?
The only things that have been able to snap me out of these states so far have been psychedelics or strong life experiences like falling in love or having a meaningful roadtrip. It might just be that I yearn for those experiences more but it is not possible to have a life like, devoid of routine and obligations, unless you are rich. What gives, brain? |
