I'm very happy to find this specific forum. My father is a recovering alcoholic who's been sober for about 15 years. I'm now in my mid-twenties so my child was very chaotic while he was drinking. I've long dealt with anxiety and depression and figured it was related but the lockdown has given me time to think and become aware that ACOA is a recognized thing in the way we recognize a mental or substance disorder. I clearly have difficulties establishing and maintaining personal relationships. I still mainly hang out with a few friends from high school. I still live at home despite being professionally successful and I've had no serious romantic relationships. I felt lonely and isolated even pre-pandemic and working on these social issues has gone from difficult to borderline impossible.

Hi. I know that I have problems with interpersonal relationships. Sometimes, people react to me as if I've done something horrible, but I'm clueless. Why are they mad at me? Of course, I have bipolar disorder, too, so some of this may criss-cross. Sorry to hear that your life was chaotic when you were young. My life didn't start to get that way until I was about 13. Then my dad would come home, drink and go to sleep after work, leaving me and my sister to cook dinner and do our homework alone. There are other things too, but I don't feel like delving into that here right now.
