I hate seeing people I like when I'm overweight and go so far as to avoid some people until I get in shape. Is this normal?

Normal as in healthy and typical? No. Normal for someone with an eating disorder? Absolutely. If I'm having a bad body image day, it is so hard to resist the urge to cancel all my plans and curl up in bed. I feel guilty, bitter, and worthless.
Something that really helped me was trying to find things that made me feel useful that didn't revolve around my weight or shape. I started paying attention to fashion blogs and magazines so I could dress better, and I spent a bit more time messing with my hair in the morning. I ate an appropriate amount of food while doing more hiking, lifting, and HIIT so I could feel good about my endurance and strength. I studied really hard in school and took more initiative at work so that I could see the tangible results of my increased productivity. It honest-to-God works. __________________ Thinking is my fighting. If you battle with an ED yes this feeling is normal. I have basically isolated myself because I've gained some weight. I literally only go out for my health appointments. Sorry you're struggling.

I am basically a home recluse, as my anxiety is so bad I rarely leave the house. But for sure theres a part of me where I really don't want to go out because I don't want people thinking I'm big or judging me. I also avoid seeing friends all the time because I feel too big to be seen by them yet.
You're not alone <3 I'm sorry you struggle as well, it's awful |
