I am a New Member who is 61 and has struggled with Bipolar 1 and an on and off again eating disorder. Went to see my Pych Dr on Monday and he is concerned with my weight loss since the last time he saw me. I guess I was hoping it would go unnoticed. Do not want to deal with this right now. I left his office feeling quite frustrated that he is making too much of things. Want to just hide and not go back to him after 11 years, but in my heart I know that is not what I should do. :

Welcome to the forum, Grammagirl.

I'm sorry you're going through this. While I do have bipolar disorder, I don't suffer and eating disorder, so I don't have any helpful advice. But I have observed that the eating disorder forum is very quiet, and you might find more help in repeating your post in the Bipolar forum...I've no doubt you'll find folks there who share your struggle and might be of some help.

Hello Grammagirl: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to Psych Central. There's a forum, here on PC, dedicated to bipolar disorder. Here's a link:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/bipolar/

And then, since you are "of a certain age", as the saying goes, (by the way... I'm 70!) the seniors' lounge may be of interest to you:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/seniors-lounge/

Here's a link to an article, from Psych Central's archives, by our host Dr. John Grohol, Psy.D. on the subject of bipolar disorder. The article provides links to a number of additional articles on the subject. Also included is a link to a blog, here on PC, on the subject of getting older with bipolar:

Bipolar Disorder: Symptoms, Types & Treatments

Getting Older with Bipolar

I hope you find PC to be of benefit.

Hi Grammagirl ... I Too Suffer From ‘Many’ MH Problems (Started Aged 6 - CSA/Incest/Pedophile Ring - Day Patient From Aged 7-14 In ‘Child-Psychiatric-Unit’ - Locked In Causing Claustrophobia - Still Didn’t Tell, As ‘Threats’ From Abusers) Including Anorexia...
I’ve Struggled/Battled/Fought This Horrific Illness, For 45+ Years However, I Now Find Myself In An ‘Acute Anorexia’ State Which Is Totally ‘Freaking-Me-Out’ ... Like You, I Wish I Could Just ‘Disappear’ From The ‘Face-Of-The-Earth’... My Doc/MH Team Want To Place Me As An ‘In-Patient’ - ED Clinic But, It’s Like Existing As ‘Two’ Different People Inside Of My ‘Mind’ - The ‘Logical’ And The ‘Anorexia Voice’, Which Is The One That’s Been/Still Is Winning! I Also Moved In With My Mum (85 Yrs Old) Who Is Really Poorly So, I Look After Her (Best I Can) Plus, My Son (28. Yrs Old) Moved In Too Thus, There Is ‘No-Way’, I Could Be ‘Absent’ From The Family Home ... Ive Tried To ‘Reason’ With The Doc/MH Specialists, By Saying Id Attend As An ‘Intensive’ Day Patient But, I Think Things Have Gone Too Far And If I Don’t Agree With Them, Then They Will ‘Section’ Me Under The MH Act ... I Can’t Stand The ‘Feeling’ Of Thing Being Taken, ‘Out’ Of ‘My-Control’ Plus, I Have Constant Horrendous Thoughts, Memories, Emotions, Fears, Feelings Plus, So Much More, ‘Surging’ Through My ‘Mind/Body/Soul’, That The Only Way ‘Out’ Of ‘All’ Of This, Is To Not Be Around Anymore ... I’m So Scared And Totally ‘Get’ / ‘Understand’ What You Too, Are Going Through ...
Sending You Much Love N Hugs Whilst Also Sending Positive Vibes And Hope To You, Whilst You Continue On Your Daily Journey...
I’m Here If You Ever Need/Would Like To Talk Anytime ...
Please, Take Care Of Yourself And Thank You So Much, For Sharing Your Story ...
