I was too freakin' depressed to get out of bed yesterday, so I didn't get to my pharmacy before it closed, which means I ran out of blood thinner. Which is rather more problematic than running out of psych meds. Couple days missing those might make you uncomfortable; couple days missing thinners might kill you. My pharmacy is always closed on Sundays and now closed tomorrow too because of the holiday.
I have a ton of refills and went to a different pharmacy to try to get one. They refused because they couldn't talk to my original pharmacy to get the script transferred, and told me to go to the ER. I haven't been in a hospital in not quite a year and a half -- since I went in and very nearly did not come back out. I proceeded to have an enormous frickin' panic attack and then I just barely made it outside to go home before I had to ralph in the grass, my stomach was so upset. I have had a million billion dr. visits in the last year and a half, but those I can handle, because I walk in and know I'm walking back out on my own two feet and have the freedom to go home. If I never see another hospital, it will be too soon, but given my health issues, I'm sure this is going to come up again. How the heck do I get around it? Worse, I have to pay for a full ER visit for 4 stupid pills!!! And it's my own damn fault, worse even yet. GROWL |

I don't know what to tell you other than to ask your Dr. for samples of the drug you need for such emergencies? Can you have someone take you to the ER who can calm you? I know it sucks. I can't come up with a solution because I would be in the same boat as you, but I don't have those health issues. All I can say is, have your prescription moved to a pharmacy that's not closed on Sundays, if you can, or try to get a supply of your perscription any way you can for emergencies, just have a lab verify the meds.

It's a generic -- so no samples. As for the pharmacy, you're probably right, but there are only 2 of them in this little town, and they're both closed on Sundays, and they're both 30% cheaper than Walgreens, which is not too bad of a drive but still nothing I can walk to. :-) Money is an issue, especially with gas at almost $3.50 a gallon here.
Unfortunately, I've only lived here 6 months and I still don't really have anybody I can call to go with me for occasions like these. I suppose my lesson to be learned is, no matter how depressed I may be, to get my butt out of bed before 1 pm Saturday if I need meds. |

Is the dr's office opened today that prescribed them? If so, call them and have them call in four to another pharmacy that's open? Even if it's not open, I would call the emergency number and have someone paged. That's what they are there for too.
I know it's hard not to beat yourself up for forgetting something of this magnitude. I do it all the time. Do you have a calendar on your computer? Can you pet med refills in on that? I've been doing alot more of that. Please let us know hon. KD PS, I'm proud of you for a private thing too. __________________ |

Hi Candybear,
D'uh! You'll only make that kind of mistake once in your life. (Hopefully) I'm sorry you got so sick with anxiety. Don't worry about the cost of the ER visit-as long as you're okay, that's all that matters. ((((((((Candybear))))))))))))) |
