Whenever bad weather is coming my anxieties go sky high, for instance this weekend we are in for a dandy of a storm, snow, ice and rain and on top of that Monday our highest temps will be only 10 degrees all day long.It is suppose to be very windy. The wind is what scares me the most>I do not know why I feel this way I have never had problems with the weather before but this all started a little over a year ago my fears of the weather.I don't even like watching the weather reports anymore because everytime I do and there is any kinds of storms brewing I freak out.Years ago I didnt mind snow storms, but no ugh.I hate having to deal with trying to get my tv and computer working once the power goes off,I actually have panic attacks whenever we lose power. My ideal weather would be 70 degrees all year through,no storms at all.Is there a name for weather phobias? Does anyone experience these kind of fears??I cannot wait until spring comes.I would much rather be able to sit outside then be stuck inside all of the time .I will tell you one thing I wont be talking to anyone around here because I just dont trust people where I live they have to know everyones business, and that is not me. It is cold today thank god I got heat last year my furnace died out three times lucky for me they fixed it oh ya that is another thing I am so afraid of my heat not going on,maybe it stems from giving me problems from last year. Why do we have to worry all of the time?I am sick of it.As you know stress is not good for us,and I have to be careful because of my heart.

I can relate. There’s going to be a monster snow storm in my area starting Friday night and going all the way into Saturday. I have to work Saturday early in the morning. I do not drive and my mom is a senior, who is terrified of driving in bad weather. I hate the idea of calling into work. But I am worried I may have to. Hopefully the snow storm will go to the south of where I live.

Luckily at work yesterday other coworkers were talking about calling in if it got real bad, so at least I wouldn’t be the only one. And I know management would be really nice about it. I just hate the idea of using one of my unexcused absents when I still have so long before they start over.

You know it is so funny because when I was a kid I absolutely loved the snow, now ugh.For it to be only ten on Monday ugh.Hey if you cant do it then stay home it isnt your fault because the weather is bad.Does this place close up when it does get bad?I know where my son works they dont and does driving in a rig ugh .He wont stay home either unless they cancel it and I dont think that is right.Someone could get hurt.

No. My store doesn’t close. What I don’t get though is why my department didn’t have everyone stay longer today, and then tell people not to come in tomorrow or something. But they have to keep to a schedule I guess. I’ll try my best to be there in the morning. Now it looks like we will get about 8 inches of snow.

I made it. It wasn’t too bad getting there. My mom said it was rough getting back home though. A couple people in my department called off, I’m not sure how many called off in the entire store. The stupid thing is that there were a couple customers shopping. In a snow storm. Getting home from work was rough since there were more drivers on the road. It was pretty tedious. But it makes me feel good that I was able to go in.

I'm so sorry, xmascarol If it's stressing you out so much, I'd suggesto to talk to your doctor about this and see how it goes from there. Maybe that could help. Hopefully he/she will have some suggestions to help you deal with this. Try to avoid weather reports if you can, otherwise you may get even more anxiety. I'm so sorry, please don't give up. I hope you'll be able to solve this problem. Sometimes weather can be scary. We're here to give support if you need it. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

Do you know why the weather started to scare you last year when it didn't before? That might be worth exploring.

I hope you stay warm and the power stays on.

I have this but I don't have a generator. So I am clearly at the mercy of the weather.

I used to be afraid of only winter weather but this summer my next door neighbor's house got struck by lighting. The biast was insanely loud and it didn't even make much sense because their house is so much lower than mine. They still are not back in their house (living in a trailer in the front yard) over 6 months later.

I hope to move someplace with better weather in retirement.
