I cannot do anything due to anxiety. Even reading a book makes me feel anxious, and I cannot concentrate. I also have social anxiety, so I rarely go out and socialize. I think I have some OCD behaviors as well that are time and mentally consuming. All of this is annoying and puts my life on hold

Consult with your GP, psychiatrist, psychologist and what have you. You might need to have your meds tweaked - also, are you in therapy? Best of luck! :-)

I used to have severe panic attacks thinking i was going to die in a fiery car crash in the rain regularly. Friend in Cali suggested I try a non-addictive anti-seizure anti-anxiety medicine called Buspar. After about 2 weeks my panic attacks were completely eliminated. What a Godsend. Other than psychosis panic attacks are some of the worst I have been through mentally in my 30 year mental illness journey. Good luck keep a stiff upper lip it can get better. It has for many of us here who decided to come back and help others through their suffering. Be patient with your self and mind. It is mostly just a chemical imbalance in your brain. Finding the right chemicals to correct it personally is the tough part. What works for me may make you worse or vice versa.
Take care
Also when you are going down the rabbit hole with those negative thoughts try to catch yourself and replace them with something positive like one of my favorites "I have an abundance of health, wealth and happiness. The hard part is noticing that you have been thinking negatively in the first place cause sometimes thinking that way can seem so natural to us.

I'm so sorry, Background Noise I know anxiety is really hard to deal with. Do you see a therapist? Maybe that could help. You could learn some new coping techniques to help you deal with it. I also agree with Guiness187055 about taking some meds. I'm so sorry. Please don't give up. Things can and will get better. Try to hang on. I hope you'll feel better soon. You can do this! You're strong, I'm sure of that. I hope writing here helps a bit. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Sending many hugs to you

I know how you feel I got agoraphobia among other things with mine so I cannot go anywhere .I only go to see my shrink because I have no choice or I will not get my meds.It feels like I am in a prison because this awful anxiety has me trapped.

I know it's been awhile since this post but I was wondering if you could share more on your experience with Buspar, I am going to doc tomorrow and thinking of replacing my Cymbalta with it. Much thanks!

Can relate since have have performance anxiety at work coupled with what seems to be OCD symptoms. It’s a bit of a nightmare in a way since my job includes complete as many cases as you can each month, but also quality and accuracy is checked randomly. So have anxiety about doing well, completing enough cases, and OCD symptoms that cause me to sabotage my performance with taking longer since I’m checking little details of my work, is this word spelled correctly, etc. I’m ok to occasionally socialize, but want to date and get very nervous on first dates, lately have been on several first dates. Haven’t dated in awhile and recent guy interested in me was super annoying.

Hope you can move past social anxiety and OCD symptoms and get out and enjoy your life.
