I can relate. I've had IBS for years, the diarrhea type. It had gotten better, but since I've developed the anxiety it's been bad again. Sometimes I think it's certain foods but often it's just due to the anxiety. My doctor just recommended I take Metamucil. I also know I eat too fast often. That's a trigger for an upset stomach. Also too much food in general, and for me, spicy food. I used to take Pepto Bismol and it helped but I can't take anything with aspirin in it anymore. I recently took Immodium for a long car trip. Worrying about being near a bathroom makes my anxiety worse! I'm sorry you have this kind of problem too.

My doctor recommended Miralax, and to see a nutritionist. Next step, colonoscopy for me. no thank you ):
I would start by checking-in with your regular doctor first. My anxiety does effect my nerves and bowels, too. And the time of day, who else is around, time of year, what I've been eating, what I ate that morning, all makes for a storm of upset. Mind over matter though. I remind myself to take deep breaths and remove myself from uncomfortable situations, like big crowds and people or places that make me uncomfortable. I hope you feel better soon. |
