In case you dont know there is this computer scam when a stupid thing pops up claiming that your pc is infected and you need to call them to have your pc fixed or they will have to close down your computer it is ********.They say they are from Microsoft first I get them on my phone now this,ok the catch is you cannot close the pop up.So dont even pay any attention to this close down your computer wait for it to start then u should be able to get back in alright they just want you credit card or debit card no,This is a scam.Oh sure they try to scare you.I lost my right to online banking because of them.It is so annoying they say dont press cancel then how am I or you suppose to close them down >Lucky for me I was able to,this happened to me about three times last year .Believe me it made me have a shouting match,I dont know why our virus protectors cannot disable them but they dont.I am telling u this so you wont get scammed, just be careful ok.

Yeah, I almost got scammed by this. And I'm not an easy person to fool. Fortunately I came to my senses in time to put the scam out of its misery. Plus I don't have anything on my computer of a personal nature. It's just a toy. But thanks for the warning. The scammers are out there & it's good to be on the alert for them.

I don't remember the name, but I think I know which infection you are talking about. It can be removed with certain malware removal software. You don't have to lose your computer or even necessarily the data on it.

In general, never trust any phone number or email address or link provided in an email or pop-up message -- no matter how legitimate it may seem. If it claims to be coming from your bank or credit card company, pull out your last statement and call the number provided there so you can be sure who you are talking to. Then ask them if anything is actually amiss with your account. Ditto for any other organization.

I hope this provides some re-assurance.
