I have been experiencing extreme anxiety for almost two weeks now. I’ve had anxiety before, but nothing like this. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t eat, drink or sleep, and I am in a constant state of panic. I am a poor, young college student and I don’t have insurance to help me pay for a stay in a hospital, but I fear that if I don’t go something horrible will happen or I will damage my health irreparably
My spouse is becoming more and more frustrated with my mental state. He tries to be kind and supportive, but I can tell it upsets him to see me this way. He doesn’t want to take me to the hospital because we don’t have money, and I can’t afford to take time off of work at all. I don’t know what to do. I’m scared, sick, exhausted but can’t sleep, and I feel like I need to go to a mental hospital. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

I know first hand about this kind of anxiety. I don't know if you live in the US but if you do there may be a mental health crisis center in your city. Also since you're a college student they may have a health center on campus that can point you in the right direction. Psychotherapy and psych meds have helped me. I don't know if your area has low cost counseling, but hopefully one of these clinics would know. Also in the US if you call 211 on your phone they have a list of resources or you can look up 211 on your computer. As for psych meds when I couldn't afford them my doctor filled out forms and I got my meds for free from the pharmaceutical companies. And lastly when I needed to be hospitalized in the psych unit many years ago and I didn't have any money they eventually wrote the bills off. My heart goes out to you. Please reach out - you're worth it.

Hi, your situation really breaks my heart :'( I had severe anxiety before so I know how hard it can be. I think one of the best thing you can do is to try finding out the root of your anxiety or you know it already?

What state do you live in? I can look up and see what resources might be available.
