Hi, I'm having everyday severe panic/anxiety attacks and mental breakdowns, because my best friend, who is a guy, rejected me. He was the last guy, who I thought would ever reject me, because I am his only real friend because of his autism. We talk about everything and phone daily. He once said he would like to be with more or likely "unattractive women" because he thinks he got a better chance with them. So why not be with me, if I accept him for who he is? It just doesn't make sense to me and my anxiety gets worse every day. He just continued on with our friendship like nothing every happened, no questions, no awkwardness.

Hello gogi: Thank you for bringing your concern here to PC. I noticed this is your first post. So... welcome to Psych Central. One additional forum, here on PC, that may be of interest to you would be the relationships forum. Here's a link:

https://psychcentralforums.com/relat...communication/

And then here are links to 6 articles, from Psych Central's archives, on overcoming rejection as well as on healing from break-ups:

Also... here are links to 4 articles that discuss relationships between persons who have Asperger's & non-aspies.. Perhaps there will be some insights in these articles that will be of some help:
