I have both anxieties and depression and going outside helps me with my anxieties and depression,I can be as angry as hell and whenever I go outside my anger seems to go away. I know the sun is suppose to help with your moods.I feel safer outside too,Maybe that is because being inside I feel all cooped up,Years ago you couldnt pay me to go outside now I love sitting out there.Except for today the sun is just to hot,but I got at least an hour in today,I have this one man he is near 80 he comes down to see me when I am outside I do feel a little bit nervous around him and Eric oh forgot him he loves to preach,While I do believe in God I wont go and preach religion to anyone ,He is also known to be a squealer so I have to watch him.Actually I would like it better if Eric didnt come to see me,he makes me nervous ,you have to watch out what u say because he will surely let you know about it.I love the trains, too. They are loud but I always wave to the conductor he waves back,I have always loved trains since I was about 13,Anyway when you feel anxious and depressed try going outside for a little while believe me it does work

We have a small dog we have been walking every day for years regardless of the weather. Sometimes it can be a challenge to get out there. But I do believe it is part of the reason we are continuing to do as well as we are in spite of our ages. Here's a link to an article, from PC's archives, on the subject of mindful walking (my own preferred method) plus a link to an article that discusses environmental effects on the mind & body:
How to Use Mindful Walking to Combat Stress Environmental Effects on the Mind and Body: Depression Relief Hope Eric decides to leave you alone soon... __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." I have trains by me too. I could hear the trains when i was growing up, they were not too far away. Some people in our town are trying to silence the trains at crossings where there are no arms. I just wake up for a second or two, it seems. I hope an ordinance is not passed.

The trains are right in front of my apt, across the street. When we had a cottage awhile back my friends and I would always walk on the railroad track but when we heard a train coming we would jump off of them and stand on this huge rock we would wave to the passengers ,it was so nice. However u could feel the force which goes along with a train it would have sucked u under.

You are right. Getting outside is peaceful for me too. Not only is it peaceful out in nature but I’m unplugged from technology too. |

I'm glad it helps you cope with your anxiety.
personally for me, agoraphobia is part of my anxiety so I can't say it makes things easier I'd rather hide under the sofa and watch tv than stand outside with that said: listening to the birds is really calming. having my windows open when I can (and listening to them) |

There has been some research about it, and I truly agree with you that going out on daytime helps with anxiety and depression. Regarding this person you mentioned, Eric, that bothers you, don't let anybody ruin that healing morning for you, so try walking to different places every now and then. Thank you for sharing! Be strong, always.

It is something to do with the sun and fresh air.It just makes you feel better.Have been stuck inside though now for about two weeks because of my fall I am afraid to take a chance to go outside.
