I think I have mentioned it before but I am Emily and I have an appliance phobia. What I think freaks me out about certain appliances is that either I can't shut them off at all OR I can't them off when I want to. In a way I am at their mercy.

For example the dishwasher. If I shut it off it is, possible, that the water will not drain. And I will be stuck with a dishwasher full of water.

With regard to a washer or dryer, I feel the same. Possible that something will go wrong and there is nothing me.. personally can really do about it.

I don't have a problem with using appliances at the laundry because I can just leave and it is someone else's problem.

But today I took a big step forward, I ordered a washer and dryer. I spent weeks looking for the perfect one and I think I found it. I am trying NOT to panic over the idea of how they will get these machines in my house since my walk out basement has a 27 inch door way and the machine is 27 inches wide but... it is supposed to be delivered on August 24th. I wish I could just leave that day and show up with it all installed.

Also, once in, I want someone to be with me when I first use it... to comfort me and just "be there" in case of disaster. But I am embarrassed to actually pay someone to do that or admit to a friend I can't handle a washer.

We've lived in our townhome for around 8 years now I guess it was. When we moved in we bought new kitchen appliances including a new dishwasher. We've never used it...

I know what you mean. I am scared to use the stove. I am terrified about a gas explosion. So on Saturday I bought a griddle and a sandwich maker that can be plugged into the wall and now I don’t even need the stove to cook.

I also hate gas. I don't understand why people put up with it. Last year where I live a massive mistake caused a gas line to over pressurize and an entire region had to evacuate their homes. Some people died. It is IMHO too dangerous. Another reason I hate where I live, is that is is so difficult where I live, in the north, to find a home without gas.

Some homes / condos are done with Propane? Insanity.

It's a good thing you don't hate electricity instead of gas.
