I made an appointment earlier with a new primary care doctor since I have insurance now for next week. I needed a refill for my SSRI and the walk in clinic that I go to didn’t respond for days. But I just got an email from the pharmacy saying I have a refill, but it’s only for one month supply. Should I cancel my appointment with the new primary doctor?
I would eventually have to go when my refill ends, but have been going to the walk in clinic for years because I didn’t have insurance. I’m anxious about the primary care doctor since it’s my first time going and I don’t want to do blood work. Could I refuse? Any advising is appreciated.

I think you should try the new doctor. I am not knocking walk in clinics because I was just there for a sprain but they are not always equipped or knowledgable when it comes to long term patient care. Part of the reason IMO is that primary care docs tend to or are required to take continuing education, classes and training. They are also just dealing with patient care. Urgent care docs deal with regular care but primarily injuries. Unless your walk in clinic was a healthcare clinic and not urgent care, then please ignore what I said. Either way I think its good to establish a relationship with a new doc.

I actually canceled that appointment because I received a refill for a month, but now I have run out of my Prozac and I only have a few of my klonopin left. I have scheduled one for Wednesday and I don't know how it would go. I don't know if the new primary doctor would give me my refills that I need for GAD since my anxiety has not been good lately. If they give me problems, I would go to the Walk- In Clinic where they know me.
