Marrying increased debt load from $65K to $95K. Due to threat of a personal injury attorney, we sought bankruptcy attorneys. They told us he needed to file many years of taxes before we could file for bankruptcy. He hasn't filed any for a little less than a year despite reminders. My panic attacks have increased from weekly to twice a week. Before I married, I always got a refund, but I just used IRS's new withholding tool, and according to that will owe thousands by April. I might have to file bankruptcy without him. He's a nice guy and treats me well, but if this gets bad enough, should I separate in order to have my sanity and some level of financial protection? He doesn't seem to care that his inactivity is eroding my ability to use my brain as effectively as I could without financial pressure.

I'm sorry you find yourself to be in such a difficult situation. I don't think I'm really in a position to advise you with regard to what you should do. If you see a therapist I think this would be something to discuss with that person. You may also want to consult an attorney with regard to your own personal tax & financial obligations. I would guess the laws where you live will have some bearing on what you can & cannot do to protect yourself particularly since the two of you are married. At least these are my thoughts with regard to your post. My best wishes to you...
