Used to take Valium for my anxiety/panic attacks. Once while I was at the doctor, we were discussing an issue I've had three surgeries over the last 15 years.

Told her (NP) that at work, I wasn't allowed to operate machinery for two weeks because of the after-surgery pain meds. I was normally a forklift operator.

So I was told to go work in a merchandise order filling group, which I'd done before. It was Monday morning and a department full of generally intolerable women who hate everything (mainly the job, but often each other). So I took a Valium so I could deal with what was to come. Told the NP that they were ticked off at me because I was in a good mood.

She immediately had me taken off my Valium. I've tried CBD, which sometimes helps, but not real handy to take in the workplace. I tried a different doctor to get back on Valium, they sent me to three different specialists, one each week. Asked me the same questions, basically a psych test. The last one had a very calm, yet very patronizing attitude. She was putting me down as a man, being forthright and downright mean, trying to get me mad and get a reaction, which she finally got. I got right crappy with her....asked if I can have my meds back or what her actual plan was, she said no.

So I told her I was tired of wasting my time and money there ($60 a week). So I left. They had told my new NP, so now she was treating me like crap. I am now looking for a Male Doctor, as NPs don't seem to respect me. I am attractive, but only 5'6" which means they don;t take me seriously. Hopefully a male doctor will help as a physician. I've given up on my Valium, seems I'm better off with anxiety and panic attacks than to be mentally healthy. I feel like the American medical profession has an agenda to make us all mad and unruly. (I've seen reference to this online.)

Are you saying you were discriminated against because you are male?

No, they are just suffering from their own upsets, which they do not feel they can acknowledge, even to themselves...

I have anxiety but I am hesitant to go to the medical community as they are just so messed up. The things they prescribe may or may not work and what they think is helpful is very often not. I have a script for Ativan and it swear to god it is harder to get than marijuana.
