Hello everyone, it's been a while.

I'm currently having a panic attack that I can't shake off... i just got back from the ER thinking i was having a heart attack at first. Turns out it was just a panic attack and dehydration.... but I can't shake this feeling. My chest feels tight and I feel like I wanna puke. I feel cold chills throughout my body and I cant stop feeling that uneasy "heart sinking" feeling.

Typing this helps a little, I'm on my phone listening to music while laying in bed trying to relax.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I've only ever had one panic attack and I ended up in the ER also thinking it was a heart attack. It's very scary and hard to shake off. I hope it has eased some since you posted this.

Thank you for responding. I just woke up and I still feel that tightness in my chest feeling with a little nevernousness / anxiety. I have to go go work in a bit too. Ughhh

Yeah, I worried I was having a heart attack the first time I had one too. Sadly, I've been having them again lately due to work stress. Sorry you have to deal with them. They are scary.

The worst is the lingering feeling I'm still experiencing... it wont go away. The anxiety and fear of having another panic attack. I'm calm, there's nothing wrong but my body does not believe me

Hi, you're definitely not alone in what you're experiencing. I have severe panic attacks on a near daily basis (mostly at night), which started two months ago. One lasted 4 days and in that time I also went to the ER because I was concerned for my sanity and life, and was given an Ativan prescription (hasn't helped me much though). I find the only things that help quite a lot are distractions (playing games, watching a happy/funny show/movie, or texting/talking to a friend). Also, if it's during daylight, then going for a walk can help too. Other than that, sometimes going to bed helps if I can manage to calm myself enough to at least close my eyes and rest my head and attempt to drift off. I know all too well the 'heart sinking feeling', nausea, chills/shaking... I sincerely hope you are able to find peace, whether this was just a one-off attack, or if you have panic disorder or something else. Like with any disorder, a strong support structure is crucial. Personally, I have my mom come sleep with me if I'm having a night panic attack... don't ever feel ashamed for reaching out for help.
