I have a question:

can you speak up for yourself?

if their is something you don't want to do, or don't like it, will you say?, or will you just go along with it

I'm getting getting better at speaking for myself- I used to go along with things that made me unhappy (and I still do sometimes, it's easier sometimes than saying it) but I am getting better.

No I struggle with this... I can't send things back in restaurants. I can't call someone up and tell them no. I can't just return clothing. I'm taking a group through my community mental health team and I don't want to be on it but I am. I'm scared to tell my community mental health team that I'm actually paying to see a therapist as I've been on the NHS waiting list to see a Psychologist for 1 year now. If not longer.

I suck big time

I have my mom do the majority of the talking for me when I’m at stores. I can order my own food at restaurants. I can speak up for myself at work and say no to them when they ask me to work extra. It’s just the retail store stuff that’s an issue. I just noticed when a family member asks me something my mom jumps in and answers for me. I’m sure my family is just being polite and not saying anything.

Depending on the person ,like my children I can never stand up to and my best friend, however I have no problem with telling my doctors where to get off.IS there a sign on us that sis it is okay to pick on me? Why us just because we have a mental illness people seem to think it is okay to pick on us.No it isnt.I actually hate myself sometimes when I dont say anything especially if my best friend is short with me I just turn my head and pretend I didnt hear her, then later I am kicking myself for not saying anything however I did tell her once in a nice way that she did snap at me she told me she was only trying to get it in my head that she has a husband who can help her.SHe never asks for help I guess she is one of those who doesnt like help but I dont care if offer anyway. Now she is starting to confide in me more since I told her numerous times her problems are not going to make me get anxieties.

I have never apreicated people talking on my behalf.

recently: I went to see the downton abby movie, and the following conversation took place:

me: a ticket to downton abby, and a large dr pepper please

person next to me: make that a regular dr pepper

woman: okay, a regular. can she not think for herself?

me: actualyl yes I can, and I want large

person next to me (leaning over the counter): regular's fine

shockjed

not only someone talking for me, but what a comment to make
