I have a doctors appointment in 2 days and it's really stressing me out. I'm so nauseous, I keep crying, my chest keeps tightening up.
I'm going for Anxiety+Depression, it's stressing me out because I don't really know how to explain or describe anything, how do I initially say anything? I don't know what to do, i'm just so nervous and worried.

Hi Icry,

I'm really sorry you're feeling this way. It sounds like you're feeling terrible. We are here for you and you will get through this. When you go to your appointment, don't worry about having to describe everything perfectly. I am terrible at telling the story myself. Your provider should be able to ask you specific questions and guide you. I always go and just answer the questions to the best of my ability. It's totally okay to say "I don't know" or "I'm not sure" when you really don't know the answer. I never go and tell a cohesive story, because that's not how I am, and it would be too hard. My providers understand that and ask questions instead of expecting me to come up with everything.

It might help you to write down some notes. Sometimes that helps me. When I figure out how to describe something, I write it down and bring my notes to the appointment. Not saying you have to do this, but it might help you feel better to have some thoughts written down. But if this stresses you out, don't bother.

I can't tell you to stop your anxiety, because that's not how anxiety works, but I bet going to this appointment will get you some solutions. I hope people here can give you some comfort and that you can put your mind at ease at least somewhat. You might have a terrible couple of days, but I hope this appointment will help things get better for you.

I always get super anxious for days before appointments too!! The thing that has helped me the most is to write down notes of the symptoms I’ve been having so that I don’t panic and forget everything I want to say. Glad your appointment went ok
