I'm meant to be going out tomorrow.

but I don't want to because of the whole Coronavirus thing.

keep imagineing stepping outside my front door and being aproached by someone who is infected (all dressed up to look like an irritating clown or something) and I'm petrified of clowns!

just had to put that here..

Ugh I know right. And I’m in one of the affected areas. But it’s like, I got bills to pay. Can’t stay at home. This morning I blew a bunch of blood out of my nose and now I have post nasal drip. Not good.

Yes it has reached the United States. And there are several cases in my state and many people being watched.

Honestly now is the best time to go out and stock up on canned goods etc. very few people have it now but in a month it may be a different story.

Well, first, at this point if the numbers are right only 2% of people with it have died from it. The flu is actually more dangerous.

Actually, I have been thinking about this and I am not sure this coronavirus hasn't already spread months ago. I have not been sick for 5 years. I RARELY get a head cold of any kind. Over xmas I got sick with symptoms I never usually get.

They included
- fever,
- cough
- chest congestion (so bad my doctor ordered a chest X-ray -- which thankfully was clear)

These are the exact symptoms of coronavirus.

Most of my fellow co workers got sick too over the late December early January time period with similar symptoms. It also lasted for longer than most colds. A week instead of 3-4 days.

I live in a major city and we all take public transport that goes to the airport.

You could wear a protective face mask. I have friends who just took a flight to one of the airports with issues and they wore masks. Keep washing hands often, too.

Last I checked the numbers were considered to be more like pandemic flu than seasonal flu so like the 1918 one that killed more people than wwi and wwii together....

Well last I heard infected was about 13K and dead was 200 persons. So that is a little less than 2% of those infected pass on. That seems low.

It’s actually pretty high as seasonal flu is 1:10,000 or 0.01%.

Just tonight, my roommate's friend dropped off a bag of medications and food for her. I asked her if she wanted to come in, and she responded, "Oh no, I'm sick with a nasty virus." Like, are you kidding me?!?! So I washed my hands and have not touched my face since!

This latest fear mongering about Wuhan is just that -- fear mongering.

The Coronavirus has been active since 2012 or before. When I was in China in 1997, SARS was being fear mongered by the media. I got bacterial pneumonia in May in China, and ended up flying home on a 17 hour flight. Did I bring SARS with me? Nope. I saw a doctor in Hong Kong 3 days before I flew home and started antibiotics, and wore a face mask so that I didn't infect everyone on the plane with my honk-coughing.

Corona is just a term that means "multiple" viruses. Don't panic. There are viruses on every surface, even in your own home. All you need to do is stay calm, wash your hands, don't touch your face, eat healthy and go on with your life.

Corona actually refers to the crown like shape of the virus don't want to leave the house tomorrow because of Coronavirus some coronaviruses are just the common cold but this one is new with a high death rate and a pretty respectable spread rate. There’s a reason the WHO stepped in but I agree there is no need to panic yet. Prepare but don’t panic.

It is scary and I admit I am scared but for me maybe it has to do with my younger daughter dying in November. My mind is blown!

I stocked up on toilet paper, bottled water, and non perishables this afternoon. Tomorrow I’m going to Sams Club for hygiene stuff and more non perishables. I’m not messing with this. My uncle who never talks to me sent me a PM on Facebook that he spent $550 at the store.

It is getting scary but I went to the store yesterday expecting to see a lot of shortages and there weren't too many. I picked up about 2 weeks of food. I already had a stock pile of water from my prior "prepper" days but I picked up some water as well. I just have to remember that per the John Hopkins site about 44,000 people have recovered already. So that is a lot of people. I am considering driving in to work for a little while but I am not sure if that would help since all my co workers take public transporation.

There wasn’t anyone panicking at Sams Club besides me. I hope I didn’t cause any. That’s the last thing my area needs “oh, look at her. She’s stocking up, she must know something the rest of us don’t.” Cue mass hysteria. I did hear one lady ask about face masks and the employee told her they were out because people were buying them by the pallet. I heard they don’t do anything though. I need to worry more about this possible recession though and the future of my employment. I’m not exactly the ideal employee in my managements eyes.
