I have a friend (coworker) who has seizures from stress. I believe this is called Pseudoseizures. She had a seizure today, and was totally out of it, and kept saying she didn't feel well. She acted very odd before this happened, I tried to get her to sit down but she refused right before she collapsed right in front of me!

I never knew this was even possible! She had been sexually abused before and does have some depression issues.

So with a person like this is it best not to bring up anything negative, etc? She was totally embarassed afterwards and still seemed lethargic after it happened.

What the best way for me to help someone with this?

Hi, rookie and welcome to Psych Central! I've seized before because of stress, too. I don't think I'd bring up the event. But otherwise, please treat her as a regular person. I'm not sure what kind of negative matters you're thinking of, but I'd play it by ear. How does she start acting?

I don't think any of us should be a downer for anyone--always complaining, etc. Just see how she responds if you should happen to mention something negative along the way. Don't try to be overly cheerful if you don't feel cheerful. Okay? She'll see through that. By the way, is she in treatment of any kind?

Again, welcome!

Thanks for the input! Another coworker had been teasing her just minutes before and her face had gotten beet red. She was eating lunch and got up and excused herself. She came back and started acting odd. She was pushing my shoulder with her finger and saying she wasnt feeling well. I asked her to sit down and she refused. Then she started pulling my jacket and she just dropped before my eyes! She was out for like 30 seconds, then awoke feeling very tired and embarassed.

She has a device implanted in her neck that helps her? Not sure how this works?
The device is scanned or something??

Anyhow I try not to stress her out or bring up negative issues that affect her.
