How are you all dealing with coronavirus and the restrictions many of us have to live

@Discombobulated We are in a farm area too. The veggies we got were so nice and fresh. A bit of dirt on them, but that was easy enough to wash off. I definitely plan to keep ordering from them. I will probably keep placing some orders with the other guy too.

I’ve become a lot more *****y? I guess is the right word since the start of the virus. But it’s also my hormones being out of whack too. Which would have happened without the virus. So it’s hard to tell which is which. I got asked by my mom if I would have been able to stay at work if there wasn’t a virus going on, and if I hadn’t been transitioning at the same time. but if doing both at the same time was maybe more the issue then work itself. But I’ve just been a lot more crabby and moody with everyone.

I’m getting covid fatigue. It feels like a weight on my chest. I’m so very careful all the time. It’s very tiring and anxiety producing.

I'm so tired of it. I just want my life back.

They have started to let two less populous regions with low levels of cases to open some things like restaurants and movie theaters as of today.

Here in the Metropolitan Region we are far from that. In fact I read something that some mayors are asking the curfew to be extended for more hours. Basically from 10 PM to 5 PM we have very strict curfew where you can only be out in cases of being an essential employee or similar. The rest of the time we are under lockdown where you can use your 2 permits a week to go out. Now they want curfew of 5 AM to 6 PM during the week and 5 AM to 3 PM on weekends. Of course, as usual, the journalists here suck. Half the time they say this will apply to greater Santiago (Santiago Province). The other times they say it would be for the whole Metropolitan Region (5 additional provinces, including the province where I live). They act like those terms are interchangeable, but they are not. They need to read a map. I hope it is restricted to Santiago. The thing is, if they do that, then supermarkets, etc. are going to be more crowded, which could lead to more virus spread. Already supermarkets in some parts of Santiago have cut their hours (closing at 3 PM in some places) and my friends say there are always lines to get in. That hasn't happened here yet, but it seems likely if the hours have to be reduced.

Every time there is more relaxation I get anxious.

We still have low level infection and deaths but my workplace (a supermarket) is reducing crowd control measures. This makes me feel anxious.

I do think a 2nd wave will come, maybe in winter, but it's like it's gone away to many people (it has only reduced).

Things are pretty bad where I am and it seems like they're only getting worse. I feel like we need another lockdown just to prevent the spread. And we need military to help enforce it. This seems like the only way we can get past this. I had a maintenance man show up at my door today. He wasn't wearing a mask, which made me angry. I had a mask on. I asked him to get one, which he did. But he didn't practice social distancing at all. He just stood too close and talked to me when he walked by me to leave. With what's going on in my country and the actions of this thoughtless man, I am very anxious tonight.

In the end, my parents did come over for my birthday although I asked them not to. Apparantly in the area I'm from, new cases are very low, 1 or 0 per day. Whereas in the city I live, some days the number of new cases is as high as in my entire home country They refused to keep 1,5 m distance from me as well, technically that's still not allowed. But no one really does anymore. They take the 1,5 m thing very literally. Went out to a restaurant which made me uncomfortable but they're like "The other tables are 1,5 m away!"

It was annoying how they made a big deal of masks. They're not mandatory back home except for public transport - here it's public transport, stores and other places like hotels as well. Every time we'd go inside somewhere "Do I have to wear my mask here as well?" Just wear the damn thing. It's not the end of the world if you wear a mask somewhere it's not mandatoty

I feel like we were lucky here that it never got very dramatic, but we can't seem to get it under control, either. Which means there's no "back to normal" in sight anytime soon People are doing whatever they please. Maybe if people were a bit more disciplined.....
I'm afraid I'm not going to get my happy place back for a very, very long time. Still so ******* lonely.

I must he honest, I loved being 'stuck' at home and not having to go anywhere. With my social anxiety, I felt so much better staying at home.

I've pretty much stayed at home this entire time. Only thing I worry about is my deliveries. I'm constantly washing my hands. A couple of times I forgot after opening a box. I didn't think anything about it. I pulled out the item and set it up then went about my usual routine. I just have to get better. This is all so crazy and our president just announced that things are going to get worse. I'm almost afraid to take out the trash and check on the mail.

@Deilla - I have tried to set up a routine with the deliveries since we're getting a lot of them too. I keep masks near the door and put on a mask before going out. I usually have them leave the delivery on top of the cement sort of box that is over the water meter to keep a bit of distance. A lot of businesses don't ask me to sign anything, just ask for my name and sometimes ID number. I take the box inside and spray disinfectant on it. Then I wipe down the door handles and wash my hands. Once I empty the box, I bring it to the laundry room to later be taken to the entrance of our neighborhood to be recycled.

Ugh. We had hopes that they would loosen up quarantine restrictions. Today is when those changes are announced. They will loosen up in some places but not where I live. Interestingly, our rate of active cases is in the range of the places they are opening up. Some places that have much higher active rates, according to the Health Ministry, are not even quarantined. There seems to be no rhyme or reason.

Here a lot of the decisions don't make sense either. We are starting to get a slight increase in R rate and it's not yet clear what the path ahead will be.

I doubt very much whether it will be a full lockdown as we can't afford it again.

We are so locked down here and have been since May 15th. It's just awful. It will be 12 weeks tomorrow. I don't even want to do anything like going out to eat or to a bar, I just want to take care of some things like getting our car fixed and go to a decent supermarket in the municipality to the north of me. We can't even do simple things that!

No you're not the only ones sadly, that is a long lockdown. UK had one of the longest lockdowns and even now there are localised ones and still things we can't do.

I hear you. That is a very tough lockdown. Just hoping things get better and safer soon for you.
It has to at some point.

Right now I feel very grateful we can go out and see people again and just hope it lasts. Not seeing people had a harder effect on me and people I love than I realised.

Thanks, I hope so too! We have had 4 consecutive days with fewer than 2,000 new cases (nationwide), which is promising.


Here we only get two permits a week to go out for reasons such as buying basic supplies/medicine, going to the doctor, walking your dog, bringing supplies to someone who is elderly/disabled, running errands like bills. Two total. So if you walk your dog (half hour permit) and you go out to shop (maximum of 3 hours) that's it until the next week.

Once our car broke down at the supermarket and we had to call a tow truck. By the time we were heading back in the truck, we were over the three hours. Fortunately, the driver took a little detour around where they were checking for permits. He's a mechanic and discovered what the problem is. It's the ignition coil that is overheating. That's why we won't risk going anywhere but the closest supermarket and when we do that we go early and bring a bottle of cold water to cool it down if it overheats. Also, the "good" supermarket is in a much more populous area. Even if the car works, I know some places have lines to get in, so we worry that if there's a line, we won't be able to get there, shop and back home in the allotted time.

Wow that’s strict. We don’t go out much either but if we forget something at the store or need to run an extra errand at least we can do that.

@LilyMop - what you mention is a real problem. With only two permits you have to be careful about how you use them. At one point is was five, but they didn't get the desired mobility reduction so they took it down to two. One day we went to the store and then forgot that we needed to get something at the pharmacy too. Fortunately, we still had time on the permit when we remembered, so we were able to go out quickly to the pharmacy.


Now they are going to require this "one password", a password you can use to get into different government websites to log into the permit site. I have one, I would have thought most people do, but I guess not. There are lines at the civil registry of people trying to set up the password. Apparently, some people can request it online but those with older ID cards can't for some reason can't. So, it's creating all this crowding together of people. Add that to the people in line at the pension plan offices to request 10% of their savings (a measure by the government to help people deal with the economic effects of the pandemic) and people in line at the tax service to get help with a direct government assistance payment, and we're likely to see a spike in cases in a few weeks. Of course, to do any of those things, you have to use up a permit.


I didn't qualify for the direct payment, but I always handle all my tax stuff online. I have the government password and always administer my pension fund online with my, so I was able to request my 10% online, fortunately. Apparently a lot of people aren't set up to handle so much online.

I still have my social security and Medicare. So it’s still not necessary for me to work. I also have a good therapist who will talk to me about specific issues that are driving me nuts that I won’t breathe a word to to anyone else. I have a full bottle of Xanax and a full bottle of Visteral. Plus my other meds work pretty well. I’ve been getting a lot of odd medical issues which have been really rough. But I guess COVID itself isn’t really affecting me. As long as I stay healthy from Covid specifically and my family does, I think I’ll be ok and I’ll be able to wait it out until a vaccine.

Although my family is planning a trip to Michigan for Labor Day and I’m secretly hoping Michigan will issue a travel ban for my state because I honestly am scared to go and I’m scared for my family too.
