Hi, this problem has been affecting me for years, only got worse recently. Any time i eat dried, sticky or starchy food for example, rice, I feel like vommitting, i cant finish my food at all, and to further add on to the issue, I have emetophobia which refers to the fear of vommitting and vomit, this fear also cause me to suffer from panic attacks.

I'm not sure which cause which, but I recall during my childhood days i used to vommiting out of panic attack from dried, sticky, starchy foods. I have to mix the rice with water and spices into my meals in order to have a proper bite.

This issue made me feel panicky and paranoid because i'm afraid that my fears would come true..

Have you visited a doctor?

I know phobias or anxiety may be present in many shapes. For example, I have one acquaintance who took a very hard time each time she tried to eat because she was convinced that when swallowing, she’s gonna get choked. She luckily overcame it, I can’t tell you for sure how. She visited many doctors and got many tests made until she got the right doctor and a diagnoses.
At least, you know it’s kind of mental issue so you have more probabilities to go to the right doctor.

I also try to avoid sticky meal because for me is very revolting and I hate throwing away. It makes my body very sick bug I don’t reach the point of a phobia.

Yes i think my doctors aware since i told her before but she is kinda dismissive of it, but i am gonna inform her again and see what she can do, though i doubt she can do much..

This seems to be a common enough issue and I've another friend with this problem as well as my own history with anxiety induced stomachaches.. So I have come across this article in my curiosity on the subject. Makes a lot of sense. I do, however, take probiotics for my stomach issues because I think my stomach issues usually cause the anxiety and it's less the other way around...but it's a bit of both. I'm sure I've adopted some of these things over the years, but ask your doctor again if there is something you might be able to take if these suggestions don't help.

Thanks for the info..i am not sure if my nausea is the physical one as mentioned by the article.. Not sure how to put it..
Its like any time i put food into my mouth, i will start to have dry mouth and the vomit urge. On my worst days, i have to skip meals and i started to feel scared about eating.
I wonder if this is some form of eating disorder or something else :/

Um, honestly, I'm not sure what I should say. I guess I could add that sometimes I feel nauseated when I'm hungry and so eating actually fixes that. I mean sure I'm anxious, but I've experienced more relief than upset in the past, so it's actually a risk worth taking to go ahead and sort of force myself to eat. So maybe your fear is a bit similar in this regard.
I was also going to say that maybe you simply have an aversion to certain foods...but now you are saying ALL foods trouble you now. Like I said, not a doctor, but in my experience, I might have to force myself to eat if I know it's just in my head, that in all likelihood I'll feel better after eating...

I am sorry though. This is a sensitive subject and I do suffer from stomach issues so I would like to help, but I don't want to make you feel worse either so I guess it's best you talk to a doctor.

Thanks all for the response. This morning i had a near vommiting episode when eating, the food give me the urge to puke..
Its really demoralizing and almost traumatic, that the food that i once loved tasting becomes something i am trying to avoid and the list goes on. Does anyonen else here able to relate. I'm talking about psychological vommiting or whatever it is

I would check this issue with another doctor since it seems your current doctor is a little lost.

When a doctor gets to arrive deep in a matter and can offer a good explanation, even when this explanation may be due to psychological causes, the patient normally tend to feel relief and can take hands in the situation.
I’m sure there’s a phobia with a name somewhere that respond to your symptoms.
