So when I’m anxious, along with the other normal symptoms, I want to quit my job or think that I need to make a career change (really think it’s because I want to just be at home in bed). I have quit a job in the past during a month long bout of anxiety and ended up going back and finishing school and finding my career passion. The problem is, when I’m in the anxious moments I just want to run away from everything. I play out situations of how I could get out of my job without looking like I quit, such as coming up with reasons that make me unable to perform my position, making it seem like I have to walk away and do something else.

Well... since I'm elderly I don't have to struggle with job-related anxiety anymore. But back when I was employed I spent a good share of my time daydreaming about ways to escape whatever anxiety-provoking situation I happened to be in. (And there were a lot of them!) I still find myself doing this on a regular basis. It's just not work-related anymore.
Sometimes, nowadays, I'll have occasion to take our dog for a walk late at night. And walking along the dark deserted sidewalks it's not unusual for me to fantasize about simply walking off into the night alone never to be seen or heard from again. Even just writing about that here in this reply it sounds delicious. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." Yes, and I have quit most things.

Yes, I can relate. I have quit a number of jobs because a day comes when I literally have a breakdown and decide I'd rather starve/be homeless/die than face the anxiety of work again.
