Over the past year and a half I have been diagnosed by 2 doctors and still my mother doesn't believe i have ADD. She believes she knows more than them and she says my bad attention is caused by my anxiety. Because of that belief i wasn't even able to discuss possible treatment for ADD with my doctor since anytime i mention it I'm shot down. it is a problem and i should at least be able to talk about it with a professional.
sorry this is just a rant but i thought someone out there may relate to this. |

I'm so sorry, random1human It sounds like your mother is in denial, or perhaps just doesn't know a lot about MI. Why can't you discuss it with your doctor? Is your mother there with you when you discuss it? How old are you? I think you have every right to get the treatment you need and deserve. Your mother may not believe it, but you have a diagnosis, so you should have priority. I don't think it's far of your mother to dictate your life and your own mental health. Is it possible to see your doctor without your mother coming in? I believe you have every right to privacy when it comes to these things. I'm so sorry, I know how hard it is when the people who are closest to us aren't supportive. I hope you'll be able to get treatment. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you
