I've been successfully on Strattera for a few years now. But here's my problem/question;

I cannot take it without having eaten... and by eaten I don't mean a piece of toast... I need a substantial breakfast... (oatmeal or eggs and potatoes... etc), and then not WITH breakfast but when it's settled, and even then it's better if I wait til I've had a mid morning snack, or sometimes with lunch. So often don't take it till somewhere between 11-1pm I have developed a breakfast habit ONLY because of the Straterra, I used to skip breakfast regularly.

Once my stomach is up and going, and then through the day, I can take Strattera anytime with food.

If I take it too early, on not enough food, a short while later I get nausea, or worse I've had uncontrolled vomiting with little to no warning. So unpleasant that I really don't risk it.

BUT if I take Strattera late in the day, which would be fine for my stomach, I think it makes me stay awake late (I stay awake late anyway... so I'm a bit unsure … perhaps I should test this more.)

I need to start being focused in the morning for work, so by taking the med at 11-12am I am starting my morning on the lowest concentration in my system. So the timing is not good.

If I take it in the evening, perhaps I'd have more of it in my system by morning, but seems like i'd be wasting the highest concentration on the 8h I'm asleep.

I've heard about split dosing and perhaps this could solve it...

I'm on 60mg daily.. It has made a profound difference to my ability to function. If I don't take it for a day or 2, as well as deteriorating function, I also start to have mild self-destructive thoughts, which perhaps are related to the anxiety related to not being able get into gear to do my daily life.

I think I could probably do even better perhaps with the recommended adult dose of 80mg, but my doc is tentative... it is a lifelong medication and of course there are risks like with any med.

So I'd like to make this 60mg count as much as possible !

Any ideas, experience to share on timing?

Thanks in advance.
