I hope it's ok to inquire- and sorry if this is odd... as a child adhd was mentioned to me but as an adult I get told other things are an issue.

I am trying to understand, and articles aren't helping me understand ADHD/ADD and money issues that can arise ...

((compulsive spending is what I understood, but to an extreme.. but I am not sure if I am understanding correctly??)) so I thought I'd ask in this forum- because i am curious and not only am I curious .. but Also do you have any tips for managing your spending habits that may help out other people with Adhd?

Money,
how do you spend it when your adhd has some influence on it, how do you know? and what have you found that helps you?

Thanks in advance and apologizes if anyone is offended with me asking.

Thank you both for replying, it's appreciated.

I suppose I get confused with what's the difference between bipolar and adhd buying /spending money red flags.. some points seem similar in away.

----
For instance, personally I have bought a lot and been close to hoarding ((well clothes maybe still- of course I need all those jeans)). but I do

I am always trying to declutter/ purge and not buy as I had with little things.. it's funny because I am frugal and money wise but not all the time ...

I have purged a lot, and get disgusted with myself of "all the trash" I had, but a lot is donated or gone... some times I just want to set it fire .. but I don't. I try to learn from this too.

I've also bought things that I forgot I bought , then bought more or similar ((not to try out this brand vs that brand, but duplicate but accident)). If that makes sense.. or over stocked on soap, and have bars for years.

I have also spent too much without realizing it, thinking I had enough money and forgot I bought something else that was a big ticket item.

I've under estimated cost , but like it when I over estimate

a few times I have bought things thinking some how I'd make the money back ((like I tried a side business with home made things that I ended up giving away, or used as gifts)). That I've learned that was a project with Sunk cost

Gambling if I ever do indulge, I am very strict- and follow my rule of only this amount and I assume at the beginning I've lost it, if I make a quarter in to $25 i can Leave with $25. ((Have at Vegas as felt like that was amazing)) but I had a childhood example of what not to follow with that.

I just wanted to understand better, some times I have issues understanding if my spending is actually off from others in general.. but am told it is due to a prescription due to a label.

I am always trying to work better on it, got a 401k started ... I try not to buy too many shoes any more, and little trinkets I try to limit or just take digital picture .. and recall all the purging I've done after I realize I have "done it again" ((which is getting better!)).

.... ((and I've been better with substance or toys lately))). Sorry to those that don't accept... but that's me.. that per one pdoc but the red flag on bipolar for me.. but o still wonder...

I've saved and some how blew a lot of it too... but one was for a car I needed and it was cash out, I was initially saving for a car to buy it out right, if that makes sense.
I didn't want to take a laon... and it wasn't a huge amount. That they dont see odd.

I dont consider myself a compulsive buyer... well maybe wanting, but also I had some examples I tried to learn by... food is probably compulsive in away.l .. but again better and trying better.

Try to make my own lunches but I can get dragged down with not making the time to and end up getting things outside of home. ((Work has a cafeteria that's the same as going out about)).

Always work for improvement.
I am by far perfect.

I am trying to get a new T and I want to ask the same original question with money spending...
But also wanted to ask others... sorry if that doesn't make sense
